We are creatures of habit!

Updated: Jan 14

We are creatures of habit! The way we eat affects the way we think, which affects the choices we make. I know most of us don't think that far or even believe that our eating habits affects our choices, well, as I watched an episode from Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett Smith, it was confirmed to me as she interviewed the rapper Common, she asked him how he was able to overcome his addiction to drinking and his answer was exactly as I said earlier, he changed his eating habits or diet and in doing so he was able to control everything else in his life!! We all have the option to choose, I can't, nor will I tell you not to consume the flesh of animals, however, I can say it is more beneficial to your health to not have it. Let us be mindful that it is not our diets alone we need to change but it's a lifestyle change, which means you also add a daily exercise routine, you drink more water, you're getting proper rest, you take care of your body inside and out.

Benefits of a vegan /vegetarian lifestyle vs a flesh diet

No processed meat

The World Health Organization has classified processed meats including ham, bacon, salami and frankfurts as a group 1 carcinogen (known to cause cancer) which means that there's strong evidence that processed meats cause cancer. Eating processed meat increases your risk of bowel and stomach cancer. Red meat, processed meat and cancer/ cancer council NSW - www.cancercouncil.com.au

Stimulants in flesh foods

The amount of drugs in our meat is terrifying - One of the cows slaughtered in July of last year (2015) had chemical residue that indicated the presence of an antibiotic in quantities more than 13 times the maximum allowed. www.vice.com This story was written five years ago.

Affects mental capacity

Avoid Trans fats - often found in processed or packaged foods - as they can be bad for your mood and your health. Include more whole grains, fruits and vegetables in your diet. They contain the vitamins and minerals your brain and body need to stay well, include some protein with every meal. Jan.25, 2022 www.mentalhealth.org.uk

Cholesterol

A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans and good fats can help lower what's sometimes called "bad cholesterol". You may hear your doctor call it "LDL cholesterol". You have a greater chance of getting heart disease when your LDL level gets too high. - Foods to eat and avoid for high cholesterol www.webmd.com

Digestion - affects colon

Meat products are one of the most difficult foods for the human body to digest because the protein contained in meat (especially red meat) is harder for us to break down, and this can cause bloating. Large amounts of fatty foods like meat make your stomach empty slower, which also causes bloating or discomfort. - Signs that your body might not be properly digesting meat - www.geelongmedicalgroup.com.au

Affects blood

Just as the experiment conducted on three NFL players in The Game Changers revealed a single animal-based meal can quickly thicken the blood, which slows down the flow of oxygen and the nutrients blood transports to the areas that need it most, including the muscles we use during exercise. People who avoid meat experience the opposite effect, since plant-based meals allow blood to remain fluid and flow quickly to its destination.
